This year I have been blessed with the opportunity to teach a Leadership Skills and Character Development class. The students were assigned 3 main projects at the beginning of the year: Impact the school, impact the community and impact yourself/one another. They began with the school project by making an action plan to rennovate a courtyard that is in desperate need of TLC. They have entitled it The Character Garden. They have applied for grants and planned a benefit night at Showmars on October 23 to raise money for building supplies, benches, tables, flowers, mulch and rocks, which they will paint the various character traits we discuss. The class will then create a student area where others can appreciate the school and hang out. One student was inspired to write and sing a rap about what his classmates have done for him. If you knew nothing about him you would be impressed, but this truly amazing young man has seen and been a part of the worst in life and has turned himself around with the help of his classmates--and God! I am touched by his honesty and willingness to do the right thing. I am including a link to his song in this post:

I hope you can "see" and hear his heart the way I do. He has taught his classmates and I so much and I know he will continue to teach us all. Thank you Lord for this incredible individual!
